We are grateful for the Proclamation by the City-Parish Council acknowledging April as Autism Awareness month. The Proclamation was received by ASAC members on March 17, 2009 at a meeting of the Council. ASAC also thanks the Sertoma Club of Lafayette for donating $20,000 to our Walk for Hope 2009! With this donation, Sertoma becomes the Title Sponsor for the 2009 Walk for Hope.

ASAC provides autism support, education, and helps to raise awareness in the Acadiana area of southwest Louisiana. Fundraising events are held throughout the year. April is National Autism Awareness Month (NAAM) and ASAC kicks it off with the annual Walk for Hope (a one mile fun walk) on the last weekend of March. This event attracts a couple of thousand participants including individuals with autism, their families, friends, and community supporters. The Walk for Hope, Family Fun Day will be held on March 28, 2009 at Parc International in lafayette. Please look for our press releases, ASAC uses TV, and radio interviews, news stories, and more.
